If chaps who are going to Beltring could have a word with him face to face then it might put things in perspective.

Sorry, it won't be me. I've said I don't want anything to do with it and this is included. Whatever happens I don't want to have to drive to South Wales in November and camp out in god knows what weather, so I feel I should continue to keep my distance from this.

And this betrays the LARP background - rules are what the game is about.

That's so much shite... (on his part, not yours Chomley) In my experience the best LARPs are the ones without rules!

This whole "rules first - scenarios later" thing is a very, very old way of looking at role-playing. Its at least 10 years out of date, probably more, and I'm very disappointed that he still thinks this way.

No disrespect meant, Dave, I'm sure you guys are doing a great job... but this just isn't for me. Carry on, CiA is behind you (even if only barely). We certainly don't want to lose you from the group!

Well, knowing nothing about LARP I may be making an assumption there - I sort of lump it together with board games, warhammer and command and conquer stuff - none of which I understand nor have the brain power to begin to understand. (Please don't try to educate me!)

Yeah, makes sense what you say David. I just have a bit of an issue that he seems to have concentrated so much time on the rules so far. Most people would deal with the scenario first, then the "do's" and "don'ts" afterwards.

If you want to see an advert for one of the bashes at Josh's Tuddenham site have a look at the following link on the PanzerGren forum:

I suppose we ought to put up a public section for it now - it 'ought ' to go in the 'Comrades in Arms' events section rather than 'Other Events'.

That done then a thread of site info (aerial map and directions) would be a start to pushing the event.

In the great tradition of CiA - very off topic - having just attended my second open day on the trot (UCAP then F&O) I have decided it will take a lot to get me to go to another, don't enjoy them at all now.

Whole heartedly agree Dave.

I just found the last four open days ive been on to be total waste ot time and money.

The only exception was the PU scout day when a fair few of us went in kit and it was only because i was gaming with a large group of friends.

I'm going to see if he's ok with me having a walk round on an open day in a high vis to see what the grounds like but i dont thin i want to play against the delta/sas crew anymore.

delta sas? huh?

Just ask Gucci to get people there in WW2 kit... there are plenty who have it, including pretty much all the marshalls!

No its the nature of open days isnt it

after doing our themed games im really not that fussed abut playing open days.

Nature of open days is that everybody goes as their fave look istn it.

I'd rather play four times a year and play in good events then play 12 times a year at open days.

Jst the way i feel about em these days. If you like them great, i dont.

You always have a whale of a time Richard!

Gucci is going to have to do a lot to make it a cracker of a site! It certainly has the potential to be a cracker of a site

The site is bigger than the old one (25 acres compared to 16) but he has lost the inclines which is a shame. He is treading carefully with the land owner at the moment so as not to cause concern over the potential impact of players crashing throught the woods but has started in the right place by improving the quality of vehicular access. Anyway, given time and manpower it is going to be good.

Regardless of all of the above my lack of complete enjoyment was more due to the noobie players and player-marshall wearing jeans on both sides and who kept swapping sides so it was hard to tell whether it was friend or foe in front of you! And I'm irritated by coloured armbands - at least in our games there is no mistaking the enemy.

Got to agree with that.

I dont mind modern games, just prefer themed ones.

Played team lightfigher with the LFO once and that was awesome.

30 of us in flectarn

30 of them in deserts and black fleeces.

You really felt like you were in an fantastic game, it looked amazing and you could see at t glance how stuff was progressing.

lol... noobie players... they're good for one thing...

In one (non-regen) game I managed 10 kills.... Most shot in the back! lol

They had definitely improved their play later in the day... but had become a lot more static, not wanting to move out of cover. The last game was fun (ish), but not as good as the earlier games.

Yes... the potential is there for a great site and the land owner was really happy... he was one of the civvies watching the games with a big smile on his face.

There's a load of building materials on site and I understand that on the 22nd there will be a building day and a load of extra stuff will appear.

There's even talk of building a PROPER toilet on site... lol

All-in-all I'm very happy to see these guys back up and running!

Yes indeed, with you there. I hope they are allowed to dig some structures - could do with the odd sunken bunker, whatever they are called  and spread structures throughout the site rather than just playing around the 'compound'. It will help with orientation if nothing else! And Gucci must do a Vietnam weekender there next year!

Whilst I respect your choices... I do think its a shame you guys feel this way.

This is for one reason...

- Turning up to Open Days in your WW2 kit is the BEST way to progress WW2 airsoft.
